·OH Radicals are the Key

Through the process of Advanced Oxidative Photocatalysis (AOP), h2o.TITANIUM reactors offer the most straightforward, cost-effective, and reliable method for generating OH radicals.

·OH radicals stand out due to their exceptional instability and reactivity. Among all the oxidizing agents available in the water treatment market, OH radicals possess:

Superior Oxidizing Potential: With a power of 2.8 eV. Unmatched Oxidation Rate: Up to a billion times faster than ozone. Brief Existence: Their lifespan is measured in milliseconds or even nanoseconds, varying by the source.

Furthermore, ·OH radicals exhibit non-selectivity, allowing them to target any organic pollutant in the water, including microorganisms.

General Mechanism Of Photocatalysis On Titanium Dioxide Nanomaterials

The excitation takes place in the presence of UV photons leading to the excitation of electrons from the valence band to the conduction band. The electrons and holes further react with the water to form active radicals. The recombination of the electron, holes is also realistic during the photoreaction (h+= holes, e−= electrons, •O2−= superoxide anion radical, O2= oxygen, H2O2= hydrogen peroxide, •OH= hydroxide radical, OH−= hydroxide).
